Privacy policy

Effective October 23, 2026

This policy explains what information Meisel NP in Psychiatry(“we,” “us,” “the practice”) collects through this website, meiselpsychnp.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to the emails and calls that follow from a request you make here.

What this policy does not cover. Your care as a patient, including anything you share at an appointment or through the patient portal, is protected health information under HIPAA and is governed by our Notice of Privacy Practices, which we give you at intake and will send on request. The intake form and patient portal are run by Valant, our electronic health record provider, under its own security program and our agreement with it. This website is not a place to share medical details, and we ask you not to.

Information you give us

When you request a free consultation call or send us a message, we collect what you type: your first name, email address, phone number, the topic you choose, and any note you add. On the consultation page we also record whether you ticked the box asking for occasional emails from the practice. If you call or text the office, we keep the number you called from and what we need to call you back. With each website request we also keep the network address and browser it came from, which we use only to block spam and abuse.

We ask you to leave out diagnoses, medications and other health details when you write to us through the website. If you include them anyway, we treat that message with the same care as any other communication to the practice, and we use it only to respond to you.

Information collected automatically

Our own website analytics record the pages you view, the page that referred you, your general location at the city level, and the type of device and browser you use. We do not store your full IP address for analytics, and we honor the “Do Not Track” setting in your browser by recording nothing when it is on. When you arrive from an advertisement, the link carries tags that tell us which ad brought you; we keep those tags with your request so we can see which ads lead to real conversations.

Advertising cookies and the Meta pixel

We advertise the practice on Facebook and Instagram. To measure those ads, this website uses the Meta pixel, a small piece of code from Meta Platforms, Inc., along with a server-side connection to Meta called the Conversions API. Together they tell Meta that a browser visited a page on this site and that someone requested a consultation. When you request a consultation, we send Meta a one-way scrambled version (a hash) of your email address and phone number so it can match the request to the ad you saw. We never send Meta your message, your answers about what you are looking for, or anything about your health. Meta may set cookies in your browser and may use what it receives under its own privacy policy. You can limit this in your browser’s cookie settings, in Meta’s own ad settings, or by using an ad blocker; the website works without it. Our cookie policy lists every cookie.

How we use information

  • To call, text or email you back about the consultation you asked for, and to schedule it.
  • To send you, if you asked for them, occasional emails from the practice. Every one carries an unsubscribe link.
  • To answer questions you send through the contact form.
  • To understand how people use the site and which advertising brings people who want care, so we spend wisely.
  • To keep the website secure, to block spam and abuse, and to meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

We share information only with companies that do work for us, under agreements that limit what they may do with it, and only as much as the work needs:

  • The Gaygency, the marketing agency that builds and runs this website, our advertising and our follow-up emails on our behalf, under a confidentiality agreement.
  • Website and data hosting (Vercel and Supabase), which store the site and the requests you send.
  • Email delivery (Resend and Amazon Web Services), which carry the confirmation and follow-up emails.
  • Meta Platforms, for advertising measurement as described above.
  • Valant, which runs the intake form and patient portal you are sent to when you choose to begin care.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or to defend the practice’s legal rights. If the practice is ever sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this same policy.

Emails and texts from us

A consultation request is permission for the office to reach you by phone or email about that request. If you tick the optional box, you also agree to occasional emails from Dr. Meisel’s practice. You can stop those at any time with the unsubscribe link in any email, by replying to it, or by writing to info@meiselpsychnp.com. We do not send marketing text messages. A text from us is only ever about scheduling a call you asked for.

How long we keep it

Consultation requests and contact messages are kept for up to three years after your last contact with us, so we can follow up and keep a record of what was asked, then deleted. Website analytics are kept for up to two years. Information that becomes part of your medical record once you are a patient is kept under the retention rules for medical records instead.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, requests are stored in access-controlled systems, and only the people who need to respond to you can read them. No website can promise perfect security, so if you prefer, you can always call the office at 740-777-6184 instead of using a form.

Children and teens

This website is for adults. The practice does see tweens and teens, but a parent or guardian makes the first contact on their behalf. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 through this website; if you believe a child has sent us something, write to info@meiselpsychnp.com and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you from this website, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing info@meiselpsychnp.com or calling 740-777-6184. We will confirm who you are first, answer within 45 days, and never treat you differently for asking. Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, including New York, California, Colorado, Connecticut, New Jersey and Virginia, have these rights under those laws; because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising beyond the measurement described above, there is no “sale” to opt out of, and we honor the Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as an opt-out of advertising cookies. Deleting your website information does not delete your medical record, which has its own rules under HIPAA and New York law.

Links to other sites

This site links to Valant, Google Maps, Instagram and others. Their privacy practices are their own; read their policies before you share anything with them.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. A material change, for example a new way we use your information, will be announced on this page before it takes effect.
